Andrew McLean Residency

Andrew McLean, Hans Gruenig, and Uganda Roberts will perform December 1 at 2pm. Tickets are $8.50 and will be available at the door (cash) or online here: http://bit.ly/2A8HDUe

New Orleans native Andrew McLean will present a series highlighting the ways that the music of India has begun to impact and interact with the sounds and musicians of the Crescent City. McLean – who was nurtured by guitar great Hank Mackie and then by world music and jazz faculty at U. C. L. A.’s Department of Ethnomusicology and the Ali Akbar College of Music – pioneered the performance of Indian music in New Orleans, where he co-founded the Indo-New Orleans group Shringar (with Tim Green and Aashish Khan, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan’s eldest son). His collaborative work with other world-class New Orleans musicians has included Henry Butler, Michael Ray, Kidd Jordan, Tony Dagradi, James Singleton, Steve Masakowski, Mardi Gras Indian Chief Smiley Ricks, and George Porter, Jr.
