Music for Mental Health

Music for Mental Health: An Evening of Song and Discussion featuring Alfred Banks, Mia Borders, Mike Doussan, Kei Slaughter, & Kathryn Rose Wood

In honor of National Suicide Prevention Month, we present an intimate concert centered around the role of utilizing music as an outlet, coping tool and connector in navigating mental health issues. For some of us, that means losing a family member to suicide, living with depression, and our own suicidal ideation; for others, it means struggling with PTSD and anxiety, or battling addiction. In a stripped-down, conversational setting, we join each other on stage sharing songs and conversation about these experiences in efforts to bring more transparency to the discussion of mental illness - to make it 'cool' to be candid about our mental health needs. The Brett Thomas Doussan (BTD) Foundation will also be on hand sharing about their "Music For the Mind" campaign, a local initiative to highlight musical luminaries of New Orleans and beyond in their personal mental health journeys.

Tickets are $15.75 at the door or online here.

All proceeds (save for those that the Mint collects) will be donated to NAMI (National Alliance On Mental Illness) - GNO Chapter.
